I have always had a passion for caring for others, so becoming a doula was a natural next step in my journey to support women and families. My goal is to provide compassionate, knowledgeable support for my clients. It is my hope to empower and educate women and their families so they have the ability to make decisions that fit them best. Having personally experienced several birth scenarios such as induction, medicine-free birth and an early miscarriage, I understand the importance of having a relatable, empathetic person present to provide encouragement and judgement-free assistance.
I am currently pursuing my certification through CAPPA (Childbirth and Postpartum Professional Association).
In addition, I have knowledge and experience in many subjects including:
- Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders
- Laboring/birthing positions
- Laboring/birthing pain relief techniques such as counter-pressure and breathing techniques
- Multiple birth scenarios/settings
No matter what your situation may be, I am confident in my ability to give you unbiased, personalized and empathetic support. I look forward to hearing from you!
What is a doula?
The word doula is a Greek word meaning women’s servant. Women have been serving others in childbirth for many centuries and have proven that support from another woman has a positive impact on the labor process.
The doula is a professional trained in childbirth who provides emotional, physical, and educational support to a mother who is expecting, is experiencing labor, or has recently given birth. Their purpose is to help women have a safe, memorable, and empowering birthing experience.
